Nine Faces of God Retreat

A Retreat: Nine Faces of God - The Enneagram and You

Essence picture mix.png

Using the Enneagram as a guide, we will look at nine beautiful ways we are created in God’s image. These are referred to as the essential qualities or essence of each of the nine Enneagram types. Being human means we lose touch with our essential qualities. We all yearn to reconnect and remember who we really are. The Enneagram offers insight about how we can let go of our false self and return to our true essence as we become more and more present to ourselves, others and God. Along with being informative and experiential, we will learn spiritual practices that are especially helpful for each Enneagram type and have time for individual reflection.

“I attended one of Deb's workshops on the Enneagram and was struck by how inviting she made each Enneagram type, so we could ease into our type before we found out the downside! Her materials were a great mixture of visual images, poetry, stories and written descriptions. I also appreciated the time to sit with others and delve more deeply into our types. I came away refreshed and hopeful that I could keep growing into the wholeness that the Enneagram presented.” ~Janet Hagberg; spiritual director, author, healer.

Moving the Race Conversation Forward with the Enneagram

Tyler and I will be sharing the presentation we offered at the 25th International Enneagram Association Conference in Oakland CA in July 2019.

In contrast to the belief that racism is a personal choice, we will explore racism as a collective, often subconscious, reality that affects literally every person who grew up in Western cultures. Like our Enneagram types, racism tells a story of who we are that is, in reality, incomplete. We will explore how each type can fall into the trap of perpetuating existing power structures, and how each type can leverage their strengths for positive change.

We will share video clips from our interviews with people of color of each Enneagram type.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for networking, social time, use of the library, and sale of some library material. Program is 7-9 p.m.

Free for MN-IEA members, students and first-time guests. $20 for everyone else. No advance registration needed.

My Relationship with Other Types: Understanding the Inner Lines of the Enneagram

IEA Chapter Logo RGB Minnesota-Standard-web.jpg

What does it mean to be connected to other types on the inner lines of the Enneagram? Do I change to the types I am connected to when I am under stress or when I am doing well? Actually, we are connected to all the types, and we never change our home base type. Great news... all the types are resources for each of us.  Join us as we explore other types as resources.

The evening will include a question and answer session, and a practice that you can return to on your own.

Held at Deb Horton’s home in St. Paul. Please RSVP using my contact form. Space is limited.

Making a Living as a Spiritual Companion - SDI webinar

I’m thrilled to be a part of SDI’s (Spiritual Director’s International) online webinar series on making Spiritual Direction part of your life!

sdi.png

Here’s what SDI has to say about the webinar…

This is more than a webinar…

This is an investment in your calling ... and your life.

Last year, the first edition of this webinar series struck a chord that resonated with spiritual companions across the world. That series became the most popular webinar in SDI history.

This year we have 9 new presenters who have all found creative ways to follow a deep, heart-felt calling and pay the rent. Some offer spiritual companionship part-time, some blend services, and some are spiritual entrepreneurs - not only working full-time, but offering other spiritual companions work in their centers of spiritual care.

All of them have made their vocation a part of their lives and their livelihoods.

We'll grant you that it's not easy to make a living as a spiritual companion. But our presenters show that it’s definitely possible. And during our webinar, all our presenters will share their recipes for turning spiritual companionship into a financially sustainable career.

If you are a student of spiritual direction - or you already work in a listening profession - this webinar series is for you.

The series runs over 4 consecutive weeks -- with live sessions each Tuesday from February 12 - March 5. The first three sessions will run 75 minutes each. The last session will run 90 minutes.

But even if that doesn't fit your schedule, please remember: each session is recorded so you can watch at your convenience.

Enneagram Panel Series, Types 4, 5, 9

Infinite Love, in an act of Love, creates us in the image and likeness of Love, for Love’s sake alone. Moment by moment, the generosity of God is poured out into our life such that we are the generosity of God. But we don’t see it. Why don’t we see it? It’s not achieved by attaining anything, because nothing is missing. The task is to begin to understand what the hindrance is made of.   ~James Finley, from Meister Eckhart’s Living Wisdom

The Enneagram is a powerful tool to help each of us understand our hindrance and open ourselves to God’s love. Whether you are new to the Enneagram or continuing to learn about it, panels offer unique insights and stories into each Enneagram style. Drawing on the wisdom and experience of our panelists we will explore 3 Enneagram styles each Saturday morning. From their own experience we will hear each panelist describe their style and how knowing the Enneagram has nurtured their spiritual journey.

This 3 part series will be held on April 7, 14, and 21. We will focus on 3 Enneagram points each Saturday...

  • Saturday, April 7 - Enneagram points 3, 7, & 8
  • Saturday, April 14 - Enneagram points 4, 5, & 9
  • Saturday, April 21 - Enneagram points 1, 2, & 6

Come at 8:30 for refreshments and conversation. Each session will begin at 9 am and end at noon. Attend three mornings or just the ones that work for you.

Registration fee is $40 per session or $100 for all three sessions. Register online at www.christoscenter.org.

Reconnecting with Intuition

MN-IEA's Member Appreciation Brunch

Have we become disconnected from our intuition?
What causes the split?
Can the Enneagram help us find our way back?
What practices help awaken our intuition?

Come and join us for a lively, experiential morning as we explore these questions and more.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. - Albert Einstein

Making Changes That Last... Growth Group Using the Enneagram and NLP Practices - Evening Group

4 Sessions on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 8:30pm
March 1, 8, 22, 29

The Enneagram illuminates our True Nature. It offers clear paths of growth to be our best self. It also illuminates ways we live from our false self. This awareness is essential for making positive changes!

As we grow in self-knowledge, we become aware of invitations… invitations to dream big… invitations to love more truly… invitations to let go of old stories and hurts. The process of accepting these invitations is just that – a process. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) practices are tangible tools to help us accept these invitations and make changes.

We will explore and practice making changes in a small group setting (limited to 8 people per group). Using imagery, metaphor, and symbols in simple exercises, we will invite our deeper self, our unconscious, to be our guide. Each meeting will include teaching, meditative centering, and creative exercises – with peer support between meetings. Groups will be held in St. Paul near 94 & Lexington.

Fee:  $125 - To register or for more info email me: horton.debbi@gmail.com
